i was planning to write a very long sarcastic entry regarding certain comments/interview given by the ministers (home ministry & de-factor law ministry). but i decide not too, cause i get worked up trying to words it as civil as possible. i can't seem to write "nicely". their explanation logic sometimes makes one wonder, how on earth did they end up as ministers. heck, they shouldn't be seen in public, let alone make statements on behalf of the government. do they come up with their own statements / speeches? or do they have scriptwriters, PR consultants guiding them on what to say? if they make their own statements, then i just think how educated they are. if they employ people do write these, then they must have been the worse in the industry and can only depend on government's project

Managed to catch the 2nd home match of the Singapore Slingers @ Kallang Indoor Stadium today. KimHoong bought the tickets earlier in the week and by 3.45pm we were seated at our place.

Today's match: Singapore Slingers vs Philippines Patriots
as this is my first time watching the Slingers in action, KimHoong was there to provide information of the main players in the team. match started and the action was fast, which is usually what you will get when there is a Philippines team playing. there were some fancy passes around, but the defence of both teams could have been better, especially the Slingers. a couple of times, the patriots had the forward receiving a pass under the basket and there were no body on that player. in the end Slingers managed to carve out a win after a nervy ending to the match.
it is very obvious that for the Slingers, other than the point guard, no other players can handle the ball when under pressured. and if those calls at the end of the game were to went the opponent's way, Slinger might lose this match as well. it didn't happen, and Slingers won.

Next matches in November will be against Satria Muda (Indonesia Team) & KL Dragons (Malaysia Team). See you at game time then!

moved to my new 'residence' last Friday. and it's sure is different sitting @ toapayoh, compared to the previous faberhill. gone are the days where peace & quiet surrounds me. my new residence is right beside the 'highway' and very near a couple of 'police beat base'. hopefully can get used to it quickly.

have you picked up a newspaper and read it from front to back lately?

i felt put off by the articles 'written' about the government. yes, i know newspaper is considered as a pro-government propaganda media. but they could at least pick up "believable" stories and put them on. printing everything the government does, making them look like they are working hard to help Malaysians survive the current worldwide economic 'crisis'. it's been known that Malaysian politicians, especially from the ruling party, are not up 'standard' to lead. some of the comments made by them are ridiculous. (there is even 2 books published, listing the 'famous' quotes from our Malaysian politicians - can be bought from MPH). some politicians can't even 'argue' without using vulgarities. is this a government? or is this a market?

ManUtd vs Liverpools. 14th march 2009. 1-4 to pools.
it was a unbelievable scoreline as it is. and all the pools fan rejoice at beating their nemesis. hooray! very big booster for pools, seeing that they have nothing much to celebrate nowadays. beating madrid & mu on the same week with similar scoreline is indeed an achievement. well as far as bragging rights go by, they do have something to rub it in their opponents face, baring the fact that it is the only thing they have to brag about. The league is a 38 matches long marathon, winning the sprint but losing the marathon... well depends on what is your priority then, if its just to beat the top 4 of the league, then i guess liverpools have achieved their targets.

What went wrong with MU
- for such an "important" match, the defenders look tired. 4 matches in row within 2 weeks sure drains even the strongest player mentally and physically. Vidic, MU's player of the year so far, is way below in terms of performance. when u're tired, you tend to make mistakes and thats what he did. in fact, he made 2 very big mistakes.
- midfield creativity, or rather the lack of it. Carrick is going thru a patch of bad form at the moment. 2 matches with sub-standard performance. Managed to survived the 1st (Inter) but couldn't make it for the 2nd (Pools).

What went right with Pools
- torres is the man! when he plays, the pools look dangerous. when gerrard plays too, they are definitely world class. and both of them did showed up on saturday. pools are dependent on both of them for the goals, be it scoring them or creating them. it's like there are 2 liverpool teams, the dangerous (with torres & gerrard) and the lame (without both of them).

in the end, it was one team on form, the other had an off day....
p.s. see you at the end, pools... if you don't mind being rubbed in the face with the trophy which MU will be holding up

"The day that earth stood still" ... *dead silence (during Oscars) / *applause with enthusiasm (MTV turkey awards) .. That is how it will pan out, IF the movie get nominated for any awards.

Keanu Reeves is @ his best playing the character Klaatu. At least the casting crew got that part right. Klaatu is soooooo Keanu Reeves... and the storyline is ... not catching at all, almost fell asleep halfway thru the movie. and since we are at it, can someone just kill that irritating kid!? Hhmm, at least that kid managed to irritate people, unlike Klaatu, the alien which shows no emotions and talks in 1 flat tone.

Hopefully this serves as a lesson to those producers, a 70s/80s hit movie doesn't naturally translate to a hit movie in the new century. new ideas is the way to go, not recycling old ones.

Leonardo diCaprio is one intense actor. if you don't realize, most of his characters in his current movies are intense. this is one of them. the plot of the movie is quite nice and interesting, i do find it a bit slow moving :)

welcome to malaysia, land of the orang utans, with wonderful flora & fauna. the most famous show to see here in malaysia would be the daily snippets of the government. for your info, this is also the first government in the world that is made up of monkeys. watch how monkeys run the government and the statement they make. snippets for these jokes are provided by the monkey ministers and disseminated to the public by the national media.

what the government doesn't realize is that the citizens have evolved. while the government are still acting like monkeys & giving monkey statements, the citizens are becoming smarter and more critical of the government actions. monkey talk just doesn't cut it anymore with the citizens. the monkey brains still don't understand this fact.

Zahid: Blame the detainees

KOTA BARU: Those detained under the Internal Security Act (ISA) have themselves to blame because they chose to ignore racial and religious sensitivities of the country, said an ex-detainee.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said those detained on Friday had ignored past warnings and history when they chose to propagate disharmony in the society.

The former detainee, who now defends the Act in the context of a greater good, said he realised the benefits of the Act which allows detention without trial for a stipulated period.

He also lambasted those who wanted to use religious principles in justifying whether the ISA was Islamic or not, adding they must differentiate between criminal, civil and syariah laws.

ISA - the draconian law strikes again.

the draconian laws are at it again. Raja Petra (MT news portal editor), Tan Hoon Cheng (Sin Chew Reporter of the "Squatters / Immigrants issue), and Teresa Kok (MP for Seputeh). all of them are arrested under "Section 73(1) of the ISA for allegedly being a threat to security, peace and public order." RPK, has been under the threat of ISA all these while, and even he expected to be arrested soon.

Tan Hoon Cheng, for her article on Sin Chew regarding the squatters comments by Ahmad Ismail, whom was recently suspended by the UMNO council for 3 years. makes u wonder, how come the SOURCE of the article only got a slap on the wrist, when compared to the reporter (which is doing her job and earning her salary, unlike some higher upper government) who is arrested under ISA? doesn't make much sense, but then.. we are in the country of APA PUN BOLEH!.

Teresa Kok arrest is the most baffling to me. this was reported in theStar "was picked up over an alleged involvement with a resident’s petition over a mosque". its an alleged involvement, so ISA now covers also alleged involvement. being allegedly involve is also a threat to security, peace & public order?

what are those khinzir thinking? since they are going to arrest RPK, they have some spare time and place, so just arrest a few more trouble maker to fulfill quota?

scars. everyone has them, be it mental, emotional or physical. they serves as a reminder of the past. some scars heals over time, some takes longer while some don't ever heal at all. there are results of lessons learned, experience gained.

i've had my fair share of scars. some physical, mostly emotional & mental. but the one which changed my life (or rather, gave me a 2nd chance @ life) was back in 1990. i could have been a "veggie", a "spastic" or worse... i wouldn't be here anymore. although it doesn't hurt anymore, but its serves as a lesson / reminder. to treasure life. treasure friends around. treasure family.

mental / emotional scars are the hardest to heal. they tend to linger longer after the "lesson". as the saying goes, what can't kill you can only make you stronger. but then, some just like the agony of such pain inflicted by these scars. the worse part is, nobody knows it there except you. nobody can help if you don't ask for it....

update: dark knight movie really is superb. storyline leaves you sitting at the edge of your seat all the time. and it really tells about human nature in general. human nature is 2 sided, when situations look bleak and without hope, will you step over that invisible boundary and choose self preservation at the cost of others? ...

everybody has 2 sides of them. whereby we usually only show one side of us, it is important to let your other side out once in a while ....

malaysia's own mat tyson has 'offered' himself as one of the candidates for vp in UMNO. in the first place, i'm not sure how on earth could he be made a minister after his countless scandals. defying and lying to the sultan, 'smuggling' money out/in of the country just to name a few. and now, he wants to be on the council of UMNO bringing leadership and strength? hhmm i guess his actual intention is to pass down his wide knowledge in his field of expertise (how to swindle money). it takes a crook to teach a crook. he is the best choice available then. a master thief to lead the den of thieves.

busy weeks past & ahead...

a breather.. past 2 weeks have been hectic at work. which is a good thing. i would rather be loaded with work than be bored to death. been added into the ticketing/fulfillment team now and its a whole new experience. been undergoing non-stop knowledge transfer sessions and catching up on-going projects. another step closer to permanent position in the company? hope so.. birthday wish / christmas wish will be same.. to be converted to full time employment :) keep fingers crossed now.

due to the increased activity in the office, can't really keep up with the 'drama' series back home. but i'm getting bored of it. some of the things are so unbelievable that i wonder the pedigree level of our MPs. nuff' said on this. plenty of blogs now that will raise enough questions to last for the next few years for them to clear up..

watched HELLBOY II today. it was a nice watch, didn't really blow me off my seat. looking forward to the next 2 movies, dark knight a.k.a batman & red cliff. do have high hopes for the next 2 movies. **ps. catch Get Smart if you're looking for lots of laughter**

well well well... june 2010? nice plan, who knows what will happen then. I've got 2 scenarios for the next scene / film for the drama of Malaysia. and it both scenarios, bodohme doesn't lose anything at all, what a clever sly sleepy premier.

scene 1 The body, The C4 and The Najis
in this version, Najis is convicted as an accomplice and sentenced to death by C4. Bodohme, face with the loss of his 'trusted' & 'appointed' successor, 'unwillingly' accepts and extends his 'leadership cum premiership' indefinitely.

scene 2 AnyWar: Return of the former DPM
in this version, AnyWar returns from oblivion and "frees" the people from the grasp of Bodohme & his Babis Nasional. Bodohme runs and hides in exile due to the numerous faction looking for his head. 4th level is banned in all buildings, having a 4th level will be taken as an anti government think tank. Najis is left with shit as he will then head Babis Nasional as an OPPOSITION party.

both scenarios is a win win situation for bodohme, staying in power for a longer period to see how things turn out. meanwhile, it would be grab as much as you can while you can situation for bodohme. all these 'reforms' doesn't look like any 'reforms' at all. lip service given to the public. hhmm .. maybe that's how he comes up with idea, during the night when he is getting some lip / mouth service from Jane. then only his brains gets stimulated and gets into 'working' condition. Now wonder he is sleepy during the day, cause he does all his 'thinking' with his 'head' during the night...

19th golden melody awards 2008 was held on the 5th of July and was shown live on one of starhubs channels (forgot which channel). started watching around +9pm, halfway thru the show de i suppose. did managed to catch the award winners all the big prize in pop category. i would say tanya chua (蔡健雅, singapore) become 19th GMA's big winner, bagging the female singer and best producer (album) for her "hello & goodbye" album. best male singer went to gary cao ge (曹格, malaysia) while karen mok (莫文蔚, hong kong) 's album "live .. karen mok" won the best album.

if you realize that most of the pop category. taiwan was not left out when jay chou won the best song of the year, followed by sodagreen (蘇打綠) as the best band and big mouth (大嘴巴) for the best group. it seems to like a lof of the big stars were not nominated at all, which is suprising. anyways, congrats to the winners!

a statutory declaration is a legal document defined under the law of certain commonwealth nations. it is similar to a statement made under oath, however it is no sworn. statutory declarations are commonly used to allow a person to affirm something to be true for the purpose of satisfying some legal requirement or regulation when no other evidence is available. they are thus similar to affidavits (which are made on oath)

Depending on jurisdiction, statutory declarations can be used for:

Declarations of identity, nationality, marital status, etc. when documentary evidence is unavailable.
Declaring the intention to change one's name.
Affirming the provenance and nature of goods for export or import.
Statements of originality for patent applications.

everybody seems to be making one of this nowadays. the best is the private.investigator which made a statutory declaration with lots of juicy info, and the retract it later. usually, one should be able to believe this "declaration", but in malaysia boleh spirit, things can change. u remember one thing today, then tomorrow you say you forgot. you make a SD (which only cost a miserly RM4 to make one), and you retract it. these people sure are fickle-minded. make a decision, stick to it till the end. arghh.. stop being a stupid frog jumping from one place to the other.

B-Boyz & Ballerina

b-boyz & ballerina: this is one of a kind performance which comprises ballet with break dance. i went for their performance on sunday purely by chance. and glad to say it wasn't a waste of time. its was like a "step up" movie without the conversation. purely dancing, or rather break dancing all the way. the dance moves were so smooth and slick with good dance choreography. makes you think like you're watching a real life mtv. if you have the chance, do catch them and enjoy the beauty / passion of the dance moves these boyz bring.

miss world malaysia 2008

this year, the pageant organizers have taken an unconventional method to select our miss world malaysia winner. instead of voting for your favourite gal, now you actually vote for the girl to be kicked off. they even came up with a theme for this year's pageant. "kill beauty, save children". ..hhmm.. kill beauty, no sex, no unwanted pregnancies, no abused children, means they are saved! .. hahaha .. sickening definition of the theme.

30 beautiful gals. all with hopes and aspiration to win & help promote malaysia (yeah right) at the miss world pageant. maybe one of these days, their speech / answers will not be so cliche anymore (world peace and all those crap). raising awareness of the problems is not the issue now that we are in the internet age, solving it is the headache now. anybody with any suggestions how the miss world could help out in this?

i have one: miss world to spend a private week with the world most notorious troublemakers. by hook or by crook, "settle" them off. (the 2 most convenient way would be to shoot them in their sleep, or fuck them till they die of exhaustion, i would definitely prefer the 2nd method. less chances of being potrayed as a killer). that would definitely help out. at least 1 dead troublemaker is better than 1 alive troublemaker. they could even use this for the mr universe (some of these troublemakers might have "exotic" taste).

update: i have look through contestants profile. basically, we should just nuke all of them. why waste time killing them one by one. there is even one contestant that looks like she is in her late twenties, although her profile says she is 23 / 24 years old only.

did Malaysia just become one of the top drama producers? nah, just that it seems like the political scenario in Malaysia is a drama by itself. plots unfolds as it thickens, as the drama goes on. how will this drama end? will it be like one of those TVB series which runs for thousand over episodes? only time will tell now.

till now, it has all elements of a good drama. mind-boggling politics(to jump or not to jump party), explosive action (C4, C4 blow her up the wall), sex (sodoyou, sodome), twist and turns(return to e Umno), comedy (script is full of crap and contradicting), crime scene investigation (someone died @ the parliment house?) and much more. well.. stay tune for the next episode, u will never know what will happen.

mozilla released their newest version of firefox on monday. and i downloaded it. quite satisfied with it. although not all of my add-ons worked with the new version, but then i could live without that odd one or two add-ons. i definitely think IE is fucked, when compared with firefox. firefox is way way much better. for those still using IE, download the new firefox and have a try. i'm sure you will get hooked.

finally caught the movie in the cinema on sunday (mayleeng was slow in getting back from aussie). it was ok for me, nothing spectacular, but then i never have been a fan of the series. jo was telling me one of her colleagues even commented "what is so nice about the movie, showing 4 old woman (1 sex crazy grandma, 1 workaholic with unshaven pubic hair, 1 angelic saint and 1 heels-crazy author) prancing around in NY. each to its own, i guess. jo was sobbing, whether it was a happy moment or a sad moment, nuff said.

storyline wise, i would think its like a 2 hour episode of the series. with the occasional funny / sad moments. catch it if you have nothing to do. i wouldn't watch it in the cinema again.

caught narnia on saturday night with jo & frah. for those not really into fantasy, just wait for the DVD then. don't really know whether does it follows the book, but overall a good plot and movie for fantasy people. the rat/mouse is hilarious. with a few touching moments here and there. lead actress has big solid boobs, although its mostly covered through out the movie (imagine on your own).

RM2.70 per liter. that's the price for petroleum now in Malaysia. 40% increase. overnight. the usual havoc @ the petrol stations. all rushing to fill up one last time on "cheap" petrol. hhm.. next in line would be food cost to go up. as usual, these things are inter-related. one side goes up, the others follow.

being one of the oil exporting country (currently still is), why does the country needs to subsidize? other oil producing countries don't do that, yet most of their petrol price is way lower than Malaysia. correct me if I'm wrong, the oil Malaysia produce is of a higher grade, therefor its not used locally but exported for other purposes. Malaysia then imports lower grade oil for consumer consumption. so if we export our higher grade oil and imports lower grade for consumption, shouldn't it be a profit scenario, no matter how you look at it. If the lower grade oil price goes up, should the higher grade goes up accordingly? if this is not the scenario, might as well we use the oil currently being exported for our own consumption then. sure beats being subjected to market increase of crude oil.

the only solution now is..... don't drive! hahaha but that is going to be a problem of it own, looking at the state of public transport in Malaysia. or maybe should start looking at bicycles or roller blades as mode of transportation...

i stumbled upon this news "school uniform sexy, says group" and i seriously do not know what to think. there are seriously some very very backward people in the country. and worse still, they have the opportunity to make statements such as this and broadcast it as news! since when has this white blouse / pinafore wearing been a problem? girls have been wearing the same uniform for the past few decades and there was never such a issue raised before. and suddenly, wearing such uniform is deem sexy / seductive?

i always think that religion is never a problem. the problem arises when people use religion as:

to state a fact based on their OWN interpretation of the religion
to do something in the name of their religion, based on their OWN interpretation.
to twist the teachings in their religion to suit their purpose
and much more ......

these are just some of the examples whereby religion is used to further one's own cause. going back to the issue of above, female students have been dressed in the same way for the past 2 or 3 decades. why is it only know that it has become a problem? and why use Islam teachings as a reason for action now? Islam teachings are being used as a reason for their cause / problem. its not the solution and not the root of the problem. the root of the problem lies with the person (molester / rapist) themselves.

are you guaranteeing that once all visible skin of the female body has been covered up, no rape / molest cases would happen? what it the TV shows some bikini models running along the beach? those the molester / rapist then go and rape / molest the TV? i don't think so, he would then target the nearest people around him (relatives, daughters, neighbours) even though they might be fully covered.

some times i guess people like to shoot statements with their mouths without going through their brains first. or maybe their brains are located at their ass, and with them sitting on their ass all the time, blood circulation is minimal therefor limiting their functional capabilities. as we know, no blood to brains = no oxygen to brain = non-functional. :)

Manchester United stands on top once again after 9 years.

21st May 2008. MU vs Chelsea @ Moscow. 1 - 1 after regulation & extra time. 6 - 5 in the favor of MU from the penalty. i woke up around 4am to catch the final 20 minutes of regulation. and from the looks of it, Chelsea was dominating play and MU was hanging on. 3 defining (bummer) moments when Chelsea could have scored and be crowned champion.

Bummer #1 Didier Drogba could have won it for Chelsea during regulation time had the ball not hit the post with the goalkeeper well beaten. Bummer #2 in extra time, Lampard could have won it had the ball not hit the bar with the goalkeeper rooted on his feet. Bummer #3 in the shoot out, Terry only had to make his spot kick count, instead he blast it wide with the goalkeeper diving the wrong side. 3 very clear chances. 1 disappointment in the end.

MU clinched it in style with Edwin blocking Anelka's spot kick on. Euphoria for MU. Relief for Ronaldo, as his spot kick was saved by Cech. luckily Edwin save the day for MU in the end.

grand finale to EPL season

this day will be remembered as one of the most exciting day in the English Premier League season. with the top 2 teams tied on points and separated by goal differences, a win for MU would be champions while Chelsea could only win their match and hope that MU doesn't. or maybe, Chelsea other way of topping MU would be to score about 18 goals in their match against Bolton.

MU goes into the break leading 1-0. with one hand on the trophy. lets hope they remember to come out and play during the 2nd half to finish off the game.

15 minutes more and Chelsea leading 1-0 now. Terry is injured in the first half with knee injuries. Hopefully he wouldn't make it for the Champions League Final on the 22nd.
MU still leading by a single goal but Wigan has started to wake up from their slumbers and giving MU some tense moments now.

freedom of speech

RPK has once again been targeted for being the people's voice. even though our DPM says that RPK's arrest is not politically motivated, general public would have their own views on this. gone are the days whereby the public belief whatever that is being reported in the newspaper. gone are the days where lies / misinformation can be easily spread via the mainstream media.

sedition charges? all because RPK implied that DPM had a hand in the murder of a certain model? lets look at the definition of sedition.
based on Wikipedia's defination:

Sedition often includes subversion of a constitution and incitement of discontent (or resistance) to lawful authority. Sedition may include any commotion, though not aimed at direct and open violence against the laws.

or a quick search on dictionary.com for "Sedition" returns a result of:

incitement of discontent / rebellion towards the government

so let's go back to the current issue. "implying" the DPM is involved in a crime is seditious? as a DPM, is he above the law that he doesn't have to be responsible for his actions? now, i'm not saying that he did it or didn't, i'm just saying why can't it be a normal court case of slandering the DPM's name in connecting him with the murder? Must the government step in and slap seditious charges on RPK?

i always thought that if you think someone wrongfully accuse you of something you didn't do, you can sue him in court of defamation. so why are sedition charges being brought up? is it because the person involved is the DPM? and since DPM himself could bring this matter to court and sure RPK for defamation / slander, but he didn't. well, why bother spending your own money in court cases, when the government will be willingly charge the person under sedition. that, my friend, is the benefit of being the government!

iron man

Caught iron man during the weekend and it was definitely worth it. I would say one of the better comic adaptations around (first being Transformer, mainly for the "wow/cool" factor). The story line looks solid (i don't really know HOW iron man came about in the comics, but the movie story line is believable), robert downing jr potrays a very convincing Tony Starks, the Suit looks wonderful (the mechanics and the process of wearing the suit looks real, although i would say its animated).

Hurry and go catch it on cinema. DVD can wait, catch it in the cinema and buy the DVD later.

the election is over. and BN has been dealt a serious blow to their majority and supremacy. Losing 2/3 of the parliament majority is not as shocking as losing 5 states to the opposition. Selangor / Perak / Pulau Pinang / Kedah / Kelantan all voted BN out of the state government. Selangor & Pulau Pinang have long been the economic cash cow of the government, how will this affect the government? Big winds of change is blowing, and its blowing hard. Those politician oblivious to this will be sweep off their feet and out of their office.

the "opposition" government (how do you define "opposition" now, is purely subjective) and the citizens for at these 4 new state government would have an interesting 5 years period. To prove themselves to the people (the Boss) that put them there.
